Reddit has introduced a new set of free tools for publishers, called Reddit Pro, in a bid to strengthen ties with news organisations and make it easier for them to engage with the platform\u2019s users. <\/p>\n
The move represents a shift for Reddit, which has previously seemed lukewarm in its approach to working with publishers, even as its communities have become key spaces for news sharing and debate.<\/p>\n
Currently in beta, Reddit Pro gives media outlets detailed insights into how their articles circulate on the platform, including metrics such as views, upvotes and clicks. AI-powered recommendations suggest which subreddits are best suited for each story, helping publishers target the communities most likely to engage.<\/p>\n
The tool also integrates with RSS feeds, allowing publishers to push content automatically to Reddit, and includes a test feature that lets users read articles in full without leaving the app. Reddit says this design encourages richer discussion by allowing users to move seamlessly between stories and comment threads.<\/p>\n
The company has trialled the tools in partnership with outlets such as The Atlantic, The Hill, NBC News and the Associated Press. Sarakshi Rai, deputy managing editor at The Hill, said Reddit had become \u201ca vital community\u201d for building direct engagement and generating referral traffic, adding that it helps the newsroom foster deeper conversations around its journalism.<\/p>\n
For Reddit, Pro represents an attempt to position itself as a growth alternative at a time when search and social referral traffic are under pressure. While the service is free for now, it is clearly part of a strategy to make Reddit more of a destination for news discovery and discussion, rather than just a place where links are shared.<\/p>\n
Reddit Pro is available on desktop and mobile web, with Android support coming soon and wider global rollout expected next year. The company says this is only the beginning, with further tools planned for editors and reporters.<\/p>\n
